Initial Placement LPAC

Follow this checklist from start to finish for each new student to your campus.   

Part 1.  For Students New To Texas

1) Initiate a Student History Worksheet.  

2) Start the Texas process with a Home Language Survey (HLS).

3) Administer the preLAS for PK-K or the LAS Links test for 1st - 12th grades.  

4) Enter the preLAS score in Ellevation.   LAS scores will be integrated by DRC.

5) Schedule an Initial Placement LPAC in Ellevation and invite the proper LPAC members. 

       LPAC is due four weeks from date of Enrollment. 

Continue to Part 3

Part 2. For Students Previously Enrolled in a Texas School

1) Initiate a Student History Worksheet. 

2) Request TREx records from previous district.  Request HLS and last LPAC recommendation.

3)  After going through records, remember that MISD will try to continue services the student was receiving at  

      previous district.  For further clarification, please call the Bilingual / ESL Department.

4)   Schedule an Initial Placement LPAC in Ellevation and invite the proper LPAC members.

       LPAC is due four weeks from date of Enrollment. 

       Continue to Part 3

Part 3.  For ALL Students

1) Perform LPAC in Ellevation within the 4 -week deadline. 

2) Finalize and e-sign.    How? 

3) Print the LPAC minutes and have all members sign.    How?

4. Print parent permission letters.    How?

5) Call to the student's home to attain parent permission.  

6. Send LPAC Minutes and all parent permissions to the Bilingual / ESL Department.
